Not-So Surprise Party
Happy belated birthday to James, who celebrated his birthday yesterday.
As James was finishing up his lunch out of the office, everyone else piled into the boardroom and lit a few candles on a cake as a fun little office surprise. But it became apparent by the rapidly melting candles that James’s lunch got held up. In typical AM/Sales style, the party dispersed after a few “Screw this, I’m going back to work” declarations.
Long story short, a surprise party isn’t a surprise when it’s jilted by slow service at a local restaurant. James was wise to the plan, half the candy had been eaten by the time he arrived, and our boardroom table is now reportedly stained by melted candle wax.
At least there was enough cake to go around for everyone. Even if it was charged to James’s credit card. But it’s the thought that counts, right?
